Digital Storefront Signs That Stay Readable at Noon

Digital storefront signs replace the poster, the A-frame and the lightbox with a screen you change from a laptop. On a street-facing storefront that means a 3,000-nit panel or brighter. Here's what each setup costs per store, built from the screens our clients actually run.

Street-facing or mall-facing

This is the first question we ask, because it changes the budget more than anything else. A street storefront gets daylight on the glass, so you need a window-class panel: an OM55B at $2,750 or brighter. A mall storefront under a roof never sees the sun. A 500-nit Samsung QMC does the job there, and a QM55C is $1,199.

The Invicta storefront in the photo is the mall case: portrait screens behind the glass, lit by the concourse, not the sky. Buying window panels for a mall is money spent on brightness you'll turn down anyway.

Rolling out to many storefronts

One store is a project. Fifty is a kit. CBD Kratom went live in 55+ stores in under 10 days because every store got the same OM55B, the same cable-hang mount and no site survey. Janie and Jack runs the same pattern across 115+ stores: two OM55Bs in the window, four QM55Cs inside, one player feeding them all over an HDMI splitter.

What slows rollouts down is variety. Different window heights, a landlord who won't allow ceiling anchors, a store with no outlet in the window bed. Find those three things store by store before you order, and order one more screen than you need as a spare.

For a chain that wants the whole thing handled, CrownTV does the install side: see digitalsignageforretail.com for its retail work. For the brightness question by window direction, use our nits guide, and for every window panel and its specs, the window display page.

Digital storefront sign questions

What is a digital storefront sign?

A digital storefront sign is a screen in or on the storefront that does the job of a poster, A-frame or lightbox, showing hours, offers, new arrivals or a QR code, and facing daylight it needs a 3,000 to 4,000-nit panel, while in a mall with no daylight a 500-nit screen is enough.

What is the difference between a storefront display and a window display?

A window display is the screen itself, a 3,000- to 4,000-nit panel facing the street from behind the glass, while a storefront display is the whole job at the shopfront: that window screen, a double-sided panel serving the street and the store at once, or in a mall with no daylight an ordinary 500-nit screen.

How much does a storefront digital display cost?

The screen starts at $2,750 for a Samsung OM55B. Mounts and installation are quoted. CrownTV's published price for a window high-brightness screen installed all-in starts at $3,850 for a 46" or 55" (checked October 22, 2026).

Do I need permission to put a screen in my storefront?

Check two places before you buy: your lease, and your town. Some landlords restrict what faces the street, and some local sign codes treat a moving display in a window as a sign.

Can one screen serve the street and the store?

Yes. The Samsung OM55N-DS has two faces in one body, at $4,599. Pressed Juicery's Penn Station kiosk puts an OM55B in a birch enclosure facing the concourse.

How fast can a chain roll out storefront screens?

Fast, when every store gets the same kit. CBD Kratom did 55+ stores in under 10 days with a standard kit and no site survey. The rule that makes that work: pick one screen, one mount and one content plan, and fit the stores to it.

What should a storefront screen show?

One message per screen, readable in two seconds from the sidewalk. Hours and an offer, a new collection, a QR code that goes somewhere useful. Change it often enough that regulars notice.
